Popular Cape Town-based seasoning brand Cape Herb & Spice has recently found itself in a bit of a grind due to a mechanism defect in some of its large grinder products, leading to plastic contamination. The company has taken swift action by issuing a public recall of the affected items to maintain consumer trust and quality assurance.

The issue at hand revolves around a potential defect in the grinders’ mechanisms, causing plastic pieces to break off and contaminate the seasoning during use. In a statement released by Cape Herb & Spice, they acknowledged the problem and expressed their commitment to resolving it promptly. Managing Executive, Paul Jibson, emphasized the company’s dedication to providing only the best quality products to their customers.

The recalled grinder products include Black Peppercorns (185g), Sea Salt (360g), Pink Salt (390g), Rainbow Pepper (175g), Sweet & Smokey BBQ (230g), Sizzling Steakhouse (230g), Seasoned Salt (240g), Salt & Pepper (310g), and Chilli & Garlic (190g). Customers who have purchased any of these items are urged to return them for a full refund.

Cape Herb & Spice has assured that none of their other grinder products are affected by this issue and is working closely with food safety authorities and stakeholders to ensure compliance. The National Consumer Commission (NCC) has also been involved, advising consumers to stop using the recalled spices and return them to the supplier for a refund.

For further information or assistance regarding the recall, customers can contact Cape Herb & Spice at info@capeherb.co.za. The NCC emphasizes the importance of suppliers informing consumers about product recalls and providing necessary redress to affected individuals.
