In a heartwarming show of solidarity and compassion, Ghana’s security service personnel have come together to donate GHS 1 million to the Ghana Medical Trust (MahamaCares) Fund, a noble health-focused initiative spearheaded by President John Dramani Mahama.

The generous contribution was a collective effort by various institutions including the Ghana Police Service, Ghana National Fire Service, Ghana Immigration Service, Ghana Prisons Service, National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), Commission on Small Arms and Light Weapons, Narcotics Control Commission, Ghana Refugee Board, National Peace Council, National Identification Authority, and the Gaming Commission.

President Mahama took to his official Facebook page to express his gratitude for the significant donation, commending the security service personnel for their “commendable, patriotic, and compassionate gesture.”

The MahamaCares Fund is a strategic healthcare initiative designed to provide financial assistance to individuals battling life-threatening non-communicable diseases such as cancer, stroke, diabetes, and kidney failure. These conditions contribute to a high percentage of mortality in the country, placing immense emotional and financial strain on affected families.

During the formal presentation of the donation, President Mahama praised the expanded role of security services in national development, beyond their primary responsibilities. He emphasized the importance of collective efforts in addressing Ghana’s healthcare challenges and ensuring access to treatment and support for all citizens.

The donation from the security services follows a previous contribution made by the military high command, underscoring strong cross-sector support for the MahamaCares initiative. President Mahama highlighted the significant impact that these donations will have on the lives of many Ghanaians.

The Ghana Medical Trust (MahamaCares) Fund continues to gain momentum as a symbol of national empathy, with President Mahama encouraging all Ghanaians, institutions, and individuals to contribute towards this life-saving cause. The unity and compassion displayed by Ghana’s security service personnel serve as a shining example of the collective effort needed to tackle healthcare challenges and support those in need.
