Former Golden Bachelor Gerry Turner recently opened up about his battle with cancer, which he was diagnosed with just weeks before his split from Theresa Nist. The shocking news of their divorce after only two months of marriage left Bachelor Nation in disbelief, but Gerry’s health struggle was the reason behind his silence on the details of their separation until now.

In an interview with People, Gerry revealed that his cancer diagnosis came at a time when he and Theresa were trying to navigate their new life together. He explained that a shoulder injury from three years ago led to the discovery of unusual blood markers, prompting further investigation by doctors. Ultimately, Gerry was diagnosed with Waldenström’s macroglobulinemia, a slow-growing bone marrow cancer with no cure.

The weight of the diagnosis affected Gerry’s decision-making process, including his relationship with Theresa. He shared that he broke the news to her in March, and while it was a difficult conversation, he believed it was necessary for her to know. Despite the challenges they faced, Gerry emphasized the importance of spending time with his family and finding joy in life, especially in the face of his health condition.

Reflecting on the judgments made about his divorce, Gerry expressed that they were unfair and failed to consider the impact of his health on their relationship. He hoped that by sharing his story, people would understand the complexities of his decisions and the true motivations behind them.

Moving forward, Gerry is determined to make the most of his life and embrace every moment. Inspired by Tim McGraw’s song “Live Like You’re Dying,” he plans to seize every opportunity for joy and adventure, refusing to let his diagnosis hold him back. As he navigates this new chapter in his life, Gerry remains optimistic and hopeful for the future. Golden Bachelor Gerry Turner recently opened up about his divorce from Theresa Nist, expressing his lack of regrets and well wishes for his ex-wife. In a candid interview, Gerry stated, “And when I’m gone, I’m gone, but I’m not going to have regrets.” Despite the end of their marriage, Gerry harbors no ill feelings and only hopes for Theresa’s happiness. He conveyed his best wishes for her, stating that he hopes “all of the good luck in the world” for her and that she “finds everything she wants to.”

Reflecting on their time together, Gerry reminisced about the glamour and excitement of their relationship. He described it as a cherished memory, acknowledging that it was a wonderful experience despite its unfortunate ending. Gerry expressed his desire for a different outcome, where they could have found solutions to their problems and avoided the impact of his health diagnosis on their decisions and direction.

Theresa, on the other hand, addressed rumors surrounding Gerry’s health battle and its role in their divorce. She clarified that his cancer diagnosis was not a deciding factor in their separation from her perspective. While acknowledging that it may have influenced Gerry in some way, she emphasized that it did not play a significant role in ending their relationship. Theresa attributed the breakup to various factors, including distance, without delving into further details.

Despite the lack of communication between them post-divorce, Theresa extended her well wishes to Gerry. In a heartfelt message, she expressed her hopes for his happiness and future. She wished him the best, acknowledging the difficult situation he was in and hoping for good things to come his way. Theresa emphasized her desire for Gerry to lead a long, healthy, and prosperous life, finding his person and experiencing true happiness.

In conclusion, Gerry and Theresa’s divorce may have marked the end of their marriage, but their mutual respect and well wishes for each other speak volumes about the depth of their relationship. As they both move forward on separate paths, they carry with them the memories and experiences shared during their time together. Despite the challenges they faced, their parting words reflect a sense of closure and a genuine desire for each other’s happiness and fulfillment in life.
