The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood warning for parts of Boulder and Weld counties due to heavy rain expected on Wednesday night. The warning specifically covers Lafayette and Erie, where thunderstorms have already dropped an inch or more of rain and are forecasted to bring an additional inch. This could lead to flash flooding in small creeks, streams, gulches, roads, and low-lying areas with poor drainage.
Residents in the affected areas are advised to move to higher ground immediately and avoid driving on flooded roads. The flash flood warning is set to last until 9:45 p.m. Adams, Boulder, and Broomfield counties are also under a flood advisory until 9:15 p.m., with the possibility of minor flooding in several cities including Thornton, Westminster, Commerce City, Northglenn, Brighton, Todd Creek, and Henderson.
This is a developing situation and updates may be provided as more information becomes available. Stay tuned for further updates on this flash flood warning.
