Emmanuel Wilson, a 30-year-old man from Columbia, Missouri, found himself in hot water with the Chicago Police Department after participating in a donut-spinning street “takeover” in Gage Park early Sunday morning. Wilson, who was dressed in a police costume at the time of his arrest, was apprehended by CPD officers in the 5600 block of South Kedzie around 2:44 a.m. on Sunday.
Upon searching Wilson’s 2023 Dodge Charger Hellcat, which was equipped with police lights and a siren, officers discovered a flamethrower and a collection of license plates among other takeover paraphernalia. The arrest report indicated that the police were called to the scene after participants in the takeover began throwing objects at law enforcement officers, prompting a 10-1 police emergency.
Wilson’s vehicle, painted in a “black-and-white” police style with the words “Pit Enforcer” displayed along the side, was easily recognizable to the officers. The car, which had a fake Texas plate reading “911 STRIKER,” had been captured on a CPD surveillance camera previously engaging in similar reckless behavior at an intersection in Chicago.
The video footage from the earlier incident, which was shared on the @hellcatloki Instagram page, showed Wilson driving the car while wearing a police costume and standing in the middle of the intersection as other drivers performed donuts around him. Based on this evidence, officers decided to impound Wilson’s vehicle for drifting and proceeded to search the car.
During the search, officers found a bag of suspected cannabis, a loaded 9-millimeter handgun, and a second firearm in Wilson’s possession. Despite claiming to have a concealed carry permit from Missouri, Wilson could not provide proof of this permit, which is not recognized in Illinois. Additionally, a search of the Hellcat revealed various items, including a flamethrower, oscillating police lights, fireworks, and fake vanity plates.
Wilson was released from custody on Monday afternoon by Judge Caroline Glennon-Goodman. He is facing two felony counts of unlawful use of a weapon and several misdemeanor charges, including possession of cannabis, possession of fireworks, and unauthorized title or registration. In addition, Wilson received citations for reckless driving, no valid registration, and operating an uninsured motor vehicle.
This incident serves as a reminder of the dangers and consequences of engaging in illegal and reckless behavior on the streets. It also highlights the quick response and vigilance of law enforcement in maintaining public safety and enforcing the law.
