Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu Urges Diaspora Support for National Development

During a recent visit to the State House in Abuja, Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, emphasized the importance of Nigerians living abroad demonstrating greater commitment to their home country by supporting ongoing national development efforts.

Dr. Phillips Ozuah, President and CEO of Montefiore Medicine in the United States, was welcomed by the First Lady during his courtesy visit, where she commended his achievements abroad and philanthropic contributions to Nigeria’s health sector.

Senator Tinubu expressed her pride in Dr. Ozuah’s accomplishments, stating, “We are proud that a Nigerian is excelling in the US. It is commendable that you have also shown support to your alma mater, the University College Hospital in Ibadan.”

Senator Tinubu highlighted the significance of education, stating, “Starting your support from the education sector is a commendable step. Through the Renewed Hope Initiative, we are making significant strides in this area.”

She expressed her appreciation to Dr. Ozuah for serving as a worthy ambassador of Nigeria and encouraged other diaspora members to utilize their knowledge, influence, and resources to uplift their home country.

Dr. Ozuah, in his response, lauded the First Lady’s advocacy for local and international support towards Nigeria’s development, particularly her efforts in promoting maternal and child health.

He expressed admiration for Senator Tinubu’s impactful work in healthcare and education and expressed interest in collaborating with the Renewed Hope Initiative to enhance the well-being of women and children in Nigeria.
