The General Manager of Elmina Sharks, Kelvin Aboagye, has been arrested by the Ghana Police Service in connection with an attack on a referee during a Division One football match between Elmina Sharks and Swedru All Blacks. The incident took place on February 16, 2025, at the Nduom Sports Stadium in Elmina, Central Region, immediately after the game concluded.

According to reports from the police, Kelvin Aboagye, along with several others, physically assaulted the referee and some supporters following the match. The authorities have detained the suspect to aid in their investigations, while they continue to work towards identifying and apprehending the remaining individuals involved in the attack.

The image captured from the incident shows the chaos that ensued after the match, highlighting the severity of the situation. It is crucial for all individuals involved in the sport to uphold respect and fair play, and violence of any kind has no place in the world of football.

The Ghana Police Service is taking this matter seriously and is committed to ensuring that those responsible for the attack face the consequences of their actions. It is imperative for the football community to come together and condemn such behavior in order to maintain the integrity and sportsmanship of the game.

As the investigation unfolds, more details will be revealed, and justice will be served to those who participated in the assault. The authorities are urging anyone with information regarding the incident to come forward and assist in bringing the perpetrators to justice.

In conclusion, it is essential for all individuals involved in football, whether players, officials, or supporters, to demonstrate respect and sportsmanship at all times. Acts of violence only tarnish the reputation of the sport and have no place in the beautiful game. Let us all work together to promote a culture of fair play and mutual respect in football.
