President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi of Egypt recently met with Speaker of Norway’s Parliament, Masud Gharahkhani, and members of the Committee on Foreign Affairs and Defense in Parliament during his official visit to Norway. The meeting highlighted the importance of parliamentary cooperation in fostering dialogue between nations and strengthening relations between Egypt and Norway.
President El-Sisi emphasized the need to enhance parliamentary cooperation through consultations, exchanges of visits, and sharing of expertise. The discussions also focused on boosting Norwegian investments in key sectors such as renewable and green energy, as well as cooperation on climate change, counter-terrorism, and combating illegal migration.
The talks also touched upon Egypt’s efforts to restore stability in the Middle East, with both sides calling for an immediate ceasefire, the exchange of hostages and detainees, and the provision of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip. Norway praised Egypt’s role in the region and expressed support for its efforts.
Furthermore, the meeting addressed security and stability in Africa, particularly in Sudan and Somalia, and explored opportunities for trilateral cooperation in the continent. Egyptian companies’ expertise in Africa was also highlighted during the discussions.
Overall, the meeting between President El-Sisi and Norway’s Parliament underscored the importance of strengthening bilateral relations and cooperation in various areas of mutual interest.
