Former EFF MP and national spokesperson, Mbuyiseni Ndlozi, has made the decision to step down from his position in parliament, marking the end of a significant era in the party’s legislative presence. The announcement was made in a statement released by the party on Thursday, confirming that Ndlozi had submitted his voluntary resignation along with fellow EFF representative Yazini Tetyana.

Both Ndlozi and Tetyana expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to serve the party and the people of South Africa. The EFF acknowledged their exemplary service as public representatives and accepted their resignations, wishing them well in their future endeavors.

Ndlozi has been a prominent figure in the EFF since its inception in 2013, serving as the party’s first national spokesperson until 2020. Known for his eloquence and sharp critique of government policies, he has represented the party in the National Assembly since 2014. His absence from the recent party conference at Nasrec, Johannesburg, raised speculation about his future within the EFF.

Reports surfaced that Ndlozi had been barred from attending party activities and meetings due to concerns about his loyalty, particularly his close relationship with former deputy president Floyd Shivambu, who defected to the uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) party. Ndlozi faced criticism for not defending the EFF when the MK party was poaching its members, leading to his sidelining from key party discussions.

Despite rumors and speculation, the EFF has denied any discord within the party. Leader Julius Malema reassured supporters that Ndlozi remained an active member of the EFF, dismissing gossip and emphasizing Ndlozi’s commitment to the party. However, Ndlozi’s resignation comes at a time of transition for the EFF, following Shivambu’s departure and leadership changes within the party.

The timing of Ndlozi’s resignation aligns with a period of internal realignments and discussions about the future direction of the EFF. His departure, along with other senior leaders defecting to the MK party, signals a shift in the party’s dynamics and potentially paves the way for new leadership to emerge. As the EFF navigates these changes, the legacy of Ndlozi’s contributions and influence on the party will be remembered as a significant chapter in its history.
