Deputy President Shipokosa Paulus Mashatile is set to embark on an official Working Visit to the Republic of France from 19 – 24 May 2025. The purpose of the visit is to strengthen relations between South Africa and France, with a focus on mobilizing investments to support the country’s economic growth and transformation objectives.
South Africa and France have a longstanding partnership in various areas including Political Dialogue, Defence, Science & Technology, Energy cooperation, Education, Health, Transport, Arts, and Culture.
The South Africa-France Investment Conference will be held under the theme “SA-France: A Partnership for Mutual Prosperity”. The main goal of the conference is to attract Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs), and financial resources to address important issues such as unemployment, poverty, inequality, climate change, and advancements in the digital economy.
The conference will focus on key sectors including Energy, Infrastructure, Transport and Logistics, Finance, Tourism, Agriculture and Agro-Processing, Mining, and Information and Communication Technology (ICT). Breakaway groups will also convene to discuss specific projects and investments within these sectors.
Government officials will lead thematic discussions on investment opportunities, policies, and the investment climate in South Africa during the high-level segment of the conference.
Deputy President Mashatile is scheduled to hold bilateral talks with French Prime Minister, Mr Francois Bayrou, during the visit.
The South African delegation accompanying Deputy President Mashatile includes Minister of Health Dr A Motsoaledi, Minister of Small Business Development Ms S Ndabeni-Abrahams, Minister of Transport Ms B Creecy, Minister of Sport, Arts and Culture Mr G McKenzie, Minister of Tourism Ms Patricia de Lille, Deputy Minister of International Relations and Cooperation Mr A Botes, Deputy Minister of Higher Education and Training Mr B Manamela, Deputy Minister of Trade, Industry and Competition Mr Z Godlimpi, and Deputy Minister of Electricity and Energy Ms S Graham-Mare.
