A tragic incident unfolded in Denver’s Globeville neighborhood when a 21-year-old motorcycle rider was arrested on suspicion of vehicular homicide after a fatal crash. The Denver Police Department reported that the accident occurred near southbound Interstate 25 and Park Avenue West around 8:30 p.m. on Thursday.

The aftermath of the crash led to the closure of southbound I-25 from I-70 to 20th Street for more than two hours, causing significant disruption to traffic flow in the area. Tragically, a passenger on the motorcycle succumbed to their injuries as a result of the collision. The driver, identified as Jacob Blackmon, was taken into custody the following day.

Authorities have indicated that speed is believed to have played a role in the fatal crash, underscoring the importance of practicing caution and adhering to speed limits while operating vehicles. Jacob Blackmon is currently being held at the Downtown Detention Center without bail and is scheduled to appear in court on July 14th, as confirmed by jail records.

This devastating incident serves as a stark reminder of the potential consequences of reckless driving behavior. It is imperative for motorists to prioritize safety on the roadways to prevent such tragic outcomes. Our thoughts are with the families and loved ones affected by this heartbreaking event.
