ADIPEC 2024 commenced in Abu Dhabi with a powerful message from Dr. Sultan Al Jaber, urging the energy industry to spearhead global sustainable socioeconomic growth. The event’s opening ministerial and CEO panels addressed pressing energy transition challenges and committed to collective action for a secure, equitable, and sustainable energy future.

Day 1 of ADIPEC 2024 featured discussions on the convergence of energy and AI, strategies to drive investment in new technologies, and the importance of fostering cross-border partnerships to accelerate innovation. The theme of the event, “Connecting Minds. Transforming Energy.”, underscored the need for collaboration and innovation in the energy sector.

His Excellency Dr Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, UAE Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology, and ADNOC Managing Director and Group CEO, emphasized the importance of capitalizing on global megatrends and integrating sectors to drive sustainable growth. He highlighted the rise of emerging markets, the transformation of energy systems, and the exponential growth of Artificial Intelligence as key drivers of change.

ADIPEC 2024 is set to host over 184,000 attendees, including 40 ministers and 200 global C-suite executives. The event will feature more than 1,800 speakers across 370 conference sessions, offering diverse perspectives on energy transition priorities and the role of innovation in driving global sustainability and prosperity.

During the Ministerial Panel, titled ‘The new global leaders and the energy transition’, policymakers discussed the role of policy and cross-border cooperation in shaping the energy transition and expanding access to climate technologies. Private sector leaders also shared insights on balancing business priorities with the need to address climate change and rising energy consumption.
