Kaizer Chiefs fans have been eagerly awaiting the transformation promised by coach Nasreddine Nabi when he was brought on board. Nabi’s vision for the team was clear – to dethrone the reigning champions, Mamelodi Sundowns, and bring back the glory days to Naturena. However, as the season progresses, doubts have started to creep in about the direction of Nabi’s project.

Nabi made some impressive signings at the start of the season, bringing in experienced players like Gaston Sirino and Inácio Miguel to bolster the squad. The additions of Fiacre Ntwari, Njabulo Bloem, Rushwin Dortley, and Bradley Cross also added depth to the team. With such strong reinforcements, expectations were high among the Amakhosi faithful.

But despite the new signings, results on the pitch have not been up to par. Disappointing draws against lower-ranked teams like Magesi FC, Royal AM, and TS Galaxy have left fans questioning Nabi’s long-term goals for the team. The recent losses to SuperSport United and Polokwane City have only added to the pressure mounting on the Tunisian coach.

At a club like Kaizer Chiefs, success is measured by trophies and attractive football. Nabi was brought in to deliver both, but so far, the team has struggled to find consistency. The leaky defense, which has conceded 13 goals in 10 games, is a major concern that needs to be addressed urgently.

While every coach deserves time to implement their ideas, Nabi must realize that time is a luxury he may not have at Chiefs. The club’s nine-season trophy drought is a stark reminder of the high expectations placed on the team. If Nabi fails to turn things around quickly, questions will inevitably be asked about his ability to lead the club to success.

Chiefs’ recent collapse against Royal AM, squandering a 2-0 lead, highlights the team’s inability to see out games. In a league as competitive as the PSL, such mistakes can prove costly in the long run. Nabi needs to instill a winning mentality in his players and address the defensive frailties if he wants his project to succeed.

Leading Kaizer Chiefs is no easy task, and Nabi must rise to the challenge if he wants to prove his worth. The direction of his project must become clearer, and results need to improve drastically if he is to win over the demanding Chiefs supporters. Time will tell if Nabi is up to the task at hand.
