A Cat’s Adventure: From Tip to Tree
Imagine being stuck 20ft up a tree for up to nine days. That was the plight of a cat named Snowy after she accidentally hitched a ride to the tip.
Owner Raza Ayub, 36, believes his Maine Coon Snowy, two, jumped into a neighbor’s car and ended up at the tip the next morning. After escaping into nearby woods, she sought refuge up a tree.
Raza and his daughter Aila, nine, from Bradford, Yorkshire, launched a search by posting on local Facebook groups and putting up 50 posters.
Eventually, a local resident spotted Snowy up the tree but she refused to come down. A tree surgeon was called in and after a five-hour rescue operation on March 31, Snowy was safely back on the ground.
The family suspects she could have been stuck up the tree for as long as nine days.
Raza, a mortgage advisor, expressed his joy, saying, “We were euphoric. We just wanted to sit at home and cuddle her all the time.”
Snowy went missing when the family got up for their Ramadan meal at 4 am on March 22. She was later spotted at the tip, leading Raza to spend nights walking around, calling out her name.
During one of his searches, the police stopped him, mistaking him for a burglar until he showed them bags of cat treats. Eventually, with the help of an animal-loving tree surgeon found on Check-A-Trade, Snowy was safely rescued.
Raza shared, “We were all in tears and clapping when he got her safely down. It was so overwhelming to know we would be taking her home again at last.”
