Truckers who recently stopped at the Flying J Travel Center in north Aurora may have fallen victim to credit card skimmers that were installed at four gasoline pumps, according to police. These deceptive devices are designed to look like regular card readers but are actually used by criminals to steal financial information for fraudulent purposes.
Aurora police revealed in a social media post that the skimmers were placed at the gas station sometime between May 25 and May 31. The gas station is located near Interstate 70 and Airport Boulevard. Although the skimmers were discovered and removed, they were stolen from the business before law enforcement could retrieve them. As of Friday evening, the identity of the individual responsible for installing the skimmers remains unknown.
Customers who used the No. 22 and No. 24 diesel pumps during the specified timeframe are advised to contact their dispatch centers or banks immediately to report the incident and cancel their cards. Detective Steve Cox can be reached at 303-739-6060 for any inquiries related to the case.
Individuals who have any information regarding the installation of the skimmers are encouraged to reach out to Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867 or submit a tip online through their website.
