The President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), Dr. Patrice Motsepe, is scheduled to embark on a visit to Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda in December 2024. This visit is crucial as it aims to assess the progress and readiness of the stadiums and other infrastructure and facilities for hosting the TotalEnergies CAF African Nations Championship (CHAN) 2024.
The CHAN tournament is set to be hosted by Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda from February 1st to 28th in 2025. This will mark the first time that the tournament is hosted by three countries, showcasing a collaborative effort in showcasing African football talent on the continent.
The tournament is unique in that it is exclusively for players who compete in their respective national League competitions. During his visit to Tanzania, the CAF President will also host the CAF Executive Committee, where discussions will be held on various key topics. These include the progress on preparations for hosting CHAN 2024 in the three countries, as well as the pathway to achieving US$1 billion in African Football over the next 8 years.
Furthermore, the EXCO meeting will address the joint governance and audit committee investigations on allegations relating to governance non-compliance in the CAF secretariat.
