A 14-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with a series of robberies targeting CTA passengers along the Red Line in Chicago. The Chicago Police Department released a community alert on November 29, highlighting the string of robberies that occurred on train cars, with multiple victims being physically attacked during the incidents.
The boy, who was part of a group of robbers, was involved in seven separate incidents. On November 13, the group robbed a 21-year-old man near the Argyle station and a 44-year-old man near Granville. Surveillance images from the Granville robbery were released by the police to aid in their investigation.
The boy is also accused of robbing a 22-year-old man and a 22-year-old woman near Bryn Mawr on November 16, a 31-year-old man near Thorndale on November 24, a 32-year-old man near Thorndale on the same day, a 36-year-old man near Argyle on November 27, and a 56-year-old woman near Bryn Mawr on November 17.
The Chicago Police Department apprehended the boy at the Bryn Mawr station on Thursday morning. He is facing charges that include four counts of robbery, two counts of attempted robbery, one count of armed robbery, one count of aggravated robbery, and four counts of aggravated battery of a transit passenger. Due to his age, no further information about the boy has been disclosed.
