Black Motion and Thandiswa Mazwai Lead SAMA31 Nominations
The 2025 South African Music Awards (SAMAs) nominations have been announced, with Black Motion and Thandiswa Mazwai leading the pack.
Black Motion, the Afro-house music duo, received four nominations, while Thandiswa Mazwai earned three nominations. Kelvin Momo also secured three nominations, with two of his albums nominated in the Best Amapiano Album category. Similarly, Sjava received nominations for both Isibuko (Deluxe) and Kanyezi (Live) in the Best Afro Pop Album category.
Unati Gwija, spokesperson for SAMA, described the nominations as a celebration of South African music, showcasing a diverse range of genres and artists at different stages of their careers.
The theme for the 2025 SAMAs is “Less Noise. More Music.” The awards ceremony, scheduled for November, promises to be a night of recognition and celebration for the country’s musical talent.
