A Peek into Angelina Jolie’s Unexpected Career Paths

Angelina Jolie, the renowned American actress, surprised many when she revealed that acting was not her initial career choice. In a recent interview on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” Jolie shared that she had actually trained to become a funeral director before venturing into the world of entertainment.

Reflecting on her decision, Jolie mentioned a personal experience that sparked her interest in the funeral industry. She recalled feeling that funerals should be a celebration of life rather than somber occasions after her grandfather passed away. Comfortable with the concept of death, Jolie saw an opportunity to make a difference in the field and viewed it as a potential career path where she could bring about positive changes.

Despite her brief contemplation of becoming a funeral director, Jolie eventually found her calling in acting. However, her diverse interests did not stop there. Rumors about her considering other professions such as becoming a pilot and trying her hand at stand-up comedy have circulated over the years.

Confirming her pilot’s license, which she obtained in 2004, Jolie shared that flying was a passion she shared with her son Maddox. On the topic of stand-up comedy, she quickly dismissed the idea, emphasizing her confidence in handling a funeral service over performing on stage.

Recently, Jolie took on the challenging role of portraying renowned opera singer Maria Callas in the biographical film “Maria.” Despite never having sung before, she underwent extensive vocal training to prepare for the role. Jolie admitted to feeling anxious about singing but devised a strategy to ease her nerves before filming.

As she embarked on this new journey of musical performance, Jolie humorously mentioned considering buying earplugs for the audience as a light-hearted gesture. However, she ultimately embraced the challenge and delivered a compelling performance as Maria Callas.

Angelina Jolie’s career trajectory serves as a testament to her versatility and willingness to explore unconventional paths. From considering a career in funeral services to mastering the art of acting and even venturing into the skies as a pilot, Jolie’s diverse experiences have shaped her into the multifaceted artist and individual she is today.
