Alan John Kyerematen, the Founder and Presidential Candidate of the Movement for Change, recently visited the Krofrom Market project, expressing deep sadness over its current state 17 years after construction began. The project, now overrun by bushes and inhabited by reptiles, serves as a stark indictment of both the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

During his campaign tour to the community, the former Trade and Industry Minister voiced his disappointment, stating, “I feel very saddened that this project has been hanging for 17 years. It is an indictment on both the NDC and then the NPP.” He emphasized that the market was intended to serve not only the people of Krofrom but also residents in neighboring areas like Aboabo, playing a crucial role in decongesting the central market.

The multi-million-dollar Krofrom Market project was initiated by former President John Agyekum Kufuor in 2007, with an initial completion timeline of six months. However, due to a lack of funds, the project was abandoned in 2008, and subsequent governments have failed to see it through to completion. The market was designed to feature over 500 stores and shelves to boost business activities in the metropolis.

Alan Kyerematen assured residents that if elected President, his administration would prioritize completing the long-overdue project. His commitment has sparked a range of reactions from the public, with many taking to social media to share their thoughts on the matter.

One user, @_Roofman2131gh, criticized the trend of successive governments initiating new projects instead of completing existing ones, which leads to wastage of resources. Another user, @Nanaezze, highlighted the systemic issue of unfinished projects contributing to political crises in the country.

On the other hand, some questioned Kyerematen’s track record as a former Trade Minister, asking why he did not address the market during his tenure. Despite these criticisms, many are hopeful that a potential presidency under Kyerematen could bring much-needed attention and action to the neglected Krofrom Market project.

Overall, the plight of the Krofrom Market project serves as a reminder of the importance of continuity and accountability in government projects, urging leaders to prioritize the completion of existing initiatives for the benefit of the community.
