In honor of Africa Day, Facebook has unveiled its fifth installment of the “Made by Africa, loved by the world” campaign, highlighting the creative excellence and global impact of individuals from across the continent. This year’s theme, “where culture meets connection,” brings together a diverse group of internationally renowned African creatives, showcasing their talents and influence on a global scale.
The campaign consists of three short cinematic films, which will premiere on the Meta Africa page. These films take viewers on a journey through the groundbreaking work, personal stories, and cultural influences of six dynamic African creatives. Through the power of storytelling, the campaign seamlessly blends various art forms such as film, animation, dance, music, and photography into a cohesive narrative of creativity and collaboration.
The creators featured in the campaign come from Nigeria, Kenya, Ghana, and South Africa, representing a wide range of artistic disciplines. The films explore themes of identity, creativity, and connection across the continent, celebrating not only the artists’ talents but also their cultural impact and resonance.
Some of the highlighted collaborations include Ladipoe (Rapper) x Fat Boy Animations (Animation), Lisa Quama (Dancer) x Gilbert Asante (Photographer), and David Tlale (Fashion Designer) x Ofentse Mwase (Videographer). These partnerships showcase the unique blend of talents and perspectives that make African creativity so vibrant and influential.
Kezia Anim-Addo, communications director for Africa, Middle East & Turkey (AMET), expressed her excitement for the campaign, stating, “We’re incredibly excited to shine a spotlight and celebrate just some of the amazing creative talent that casts a light on our African culture and connects us to the world.” She emphasized that Facebook serves as a platform for conversations around cultural moments, and through this campaign, they aim to not only celebrate individual success stories but also demonstrate how culture and social media can foster meaningful connections and inspiration.
The “Made by Africa, loved by the world” campaign is a testament to the rich artistic heritage and global impact of African creatives. By highlighting their talents and stories, Facebook aims to showcase the diversity and creativity that define African culture while fostering connections and inspiration on a global scale.
