Lobatse Clay Works (LCW), a prominent brick manufacturer in Botswana, has received crucial support from the African Development Bank (ADB) to revitalize its operations. Following a shutdown in 2017 due to outdated infrastructure, LCW has undergone extensive upgrades with the assistance of ADB. The enhancements include the implementation of energy-efficient kilns and cutting-edge automation technologies, transforming the plant into one of the most advanced facilities in the region.
With an annual production capacity of 36 million bricks, LCW is now well-positioned to meet the increasing demand for construction materials in Botswana. This initiative aligns with the country’s industrialization strategy, which aims to reduce dependence on imports and stimulate local employment opportunities. At full capacity, LCW is projected to create 240 jobs, contributing significantly to the nation’s economic growth and development.
