Africa Teams Faces Tough Opponent

The draw for the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup, Seychelles 2025, took place on Friday, marking a significant moment in the history of the tournament. The group stage opponents for the three African countries participating in the event were unveiled during the ceremony.

Hosted for the first time on the African continent, Seychelles, Senegal, and Mauritania find themselves in Group A alongside Belarus, Guatemala, and Japan. This diverse group includes both experienced teams like Senegal and newcomers like Mauritania, promising an exciting competition.

The top two teams from each pool will advance to the quarterfinals, setting the stage for intense matches and fierce competition. The tournament will run from May 1-11, showcasing the best of beach soccer talent from around the world.

During the draw ceremony in Victoria, the capital of Seychelles, the official anthem of the competition, Bom Sé Sé, was performed by local artists Elijah Seychelles and Taniah. The vibrant event captured the spirit of the tournament and set the tone for the upcoming matches.

For Mauritania, a debutant in the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup, being grouped with established teams poses a significant challenge. However, coach Moussa Baghayogho remains optimistic, expressing pride in representing his country on the world stage.

Senegal, the current African champions, approach the tournament with confidence and determination. Captain Al Seyni Ndiaye exudes belief in his team’s abilities, vowing to give their all in every match. With a strong group featuring Spain, Tahiti, and Chile, Senegal is prepared to face any challenge.

The diversity of approaches among the African representatives adds an intriguing dynamic to the competition. While Senegal aims for the top spot, Seychelles remains resolute, and Mauritania approaches the tournament with enthusiasm, eager to make a mark on the global stage.
