The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has announced that several key players have been forced to withdraw from the upcoming matches due to various reasons. In a statement released today, the GFA cited injuries as the main reason for the dropouts, with only Joseph Paintsil withdrawing for personal reasons.
One of the players who will be absent from the matches is Inaki Williams, who sustained a hamstring injury during Athletic Bilbao’s Europa League match against Ludogorets. Williams scored the equalizer in the match but has been unable to train since the injury.
Another player, Antoine Semenyo, is dealing with a patella tendon injury due to an overload of games. The Bournemouth medical team has decided to refer him to a tendon specialist to prevent the injury from worsening.
Tariq Lamptey, the Brighton and Hove Albion fullback, is undergoing rehabilitation for a calf discomfort that was aggravated last week. Jonas Adjetey, who was on the road to recovery, suffered a setback in his last league game.
Defender Jerome Opoku is currently undergoing rehabilitation for chronic back pain that worsened during a Turkish Super Lig game. Alexander Djiku, a defender for Fenerbahce, has aggravated an existing hamstring injury and will be sidelined for the upcoming matches. Ibrahim Osman also picked up a hamstring injury in his last outing for his club.
The Black Stars are set to face Angola away in Lunda on November 15, 2024, before hosting Niger at the Accra Sports Stadium three days later. Despite the absence of the eight players, no replacements have been named for the upcoming matches.
