Acer Returns to Wearable Tech Market with FreeSense Ring
After a long hiatus, Acer has made a surprising comeback to the wearable tech market with the launch of the Acer FreeSense Ring, a direct competitor to the Samsung Galaxy Ring and Oura Ring 4.
The announcement of the Acer FreeSense Ring took many by surprise at Computex 2025, a tech show in Taipei known for showcasing laptops and PC gear. Unlike typical wearable tech leaks, the FreeSense Ring was unveiled without much prior speculation.
Designed to be worn on the finger or thumb, the FreeSense Ring features biometric sensors on the inside and boasts a sleek and sophisticated design. Made from an ultra-lightweight titanium alloy, the ring comes in glossy black or matte rose gold finishes and is available in seven different sizes ranging from 7 to 13.
With IP68/5ATM dust and water resistance, a thickness of 2.6mm, and a weight of 2-3g depending on the size, the FreeSense Ring offers durability and comfort for everyday wear.
One standout feature of the FreeSense Ring is the absence of a subscription fee, making it a cost-effective option compared to competitors like the Oura Ring 4 and Samsung Galaxy Ring. Priced between $199-250, the Acer FreeSense Ring is positioned as one of the more affordable smart rings on the market.

According to reports from Tom’s Guide, the Acer FreeSense Ring is set to be released in August, offering users a range of health-tracking capabilities. Using its sensors, the ring can monitor heart rate, heart rate variability, blood oxygen levels, and sleep patterns.
Integrated with AI technology, the companion app provides personalized wellness insights and recommendations based on the data collected by the FreeSense Ring. Acer highlights features like sleep stage analysis and continuous tracking to promote proactive health management and lifestyle awareness.
While the battery life of the FreeSense Ring is rated at four days, slightly behind some competitors, Acer may leverage its ecosystem of devices to enhance the user experience. Integration with laptops and unique gestures could set the FreeSense Ring apart from the competition.
With the Acer FreeSense Ring marking the brand’s return to wearable tech after the Liquid Leap+ in 2015, tech enthusiasts are eager to see how Acer’s latest offering stacks up against the competition. As the wearable tech market continues to evolve, the FreeSense Ring presents an intriguing option for consumers seeking a blend of style and functionality in a smart ring.
