Empowering Communities: AM Foundation’s Impactful Initiatives in Ashaiman

Founded in 2021 by Nancy Acheampomaa Nkrumah, also known as Abena Model, AM Foundation has been dedicated to community development in Ashaiman. Nancy, a 27-year-old marketing graduate from the University of Ghana, has channeled her passion for service into impactful initiatives that have touched the lives of many.

Key Initiatives by AM Foundation:

1. Christmas with the Kids: Every Christmas, AM Foundation hosts a charity fun fair to bring joy and celebration to children in Ashaiman.

2. Youth Employment and Digital Skills Training: In 2022, the foundation launched an entrepreneurship program at Ashaiman Secondary School, enrolling 1,000 students. The program aims to equip youth with digital skills and entrepreneurial knowledge to start businesses with low capital.

3. Support for New Mothers and Babies: AM Foundation has made significant donations to new mothers, babies, and hospitals in Ashaiman, providing essential items and support to enhance the well-being of mothers and their newborns.

4. Assistance to Female Inmates at Nsawam Prison: The foundation has visited and donated to female inmates at Nsawam Prison, offering support and solidarity to incarcerated women in need.

A Personal Commitment to Community

Nancy’s dedication to giving back is deeply personal and rooted in humanity. In 2021, she celebrated her birthday by donating to the Ashaiman polyclinic, a gesture that was warmly received by the staff and community. Since then, she has continued to make positive impacts in the community.

One of the recent initiatives is the Mama Nsano Cooking competition held in Ashaiman to celebrate market women. The event brought together women from various local markets to honor their contributions to the community and economy.

The competition featured a variety of traditional Ghanaian dishes, showcasing the rich culinary heritage of the region. The Asanteman Pepepeye Amannone Ghana Foundation team emerged as winners, with Naa Amui B and Water Works Market securing second and third place, respectively.

Addressing the gathering, Abena Model expressed gratitude for the market women’s hard work and dedication:

“Today, we are celebrating strength, resilience, and the heartbeat of our communities. At AM Foundation, we see you, we honor you, and we say thank you. This initiative is our way of giving back and acknowledging your sacrifices.”

The Queen Mother of Ashaiman, Naa Amui, also commended the foundation for empowering market women and restoring their dignity:

“Our market women are leaders in their own right, and today, you reminded them of that. Let this be a call for more partnerships that uplift our mothers. When our women rise, our nation rises.”

The market women expressed their appreciation for the recognition and celebration of their hard work:

“Today, we felt respected and celebrated as mothers. We stand in the sun and rain to make a living for our families, and your appreciation means a lot to us.”

The AM Foundation’s initiative not only celebrated Mother’s Day but also highlighted the essential role market women play in sustaining communities. Through such events, the foundation aims to continue empowering women and recognizing their contributions to society.

The success of the event was made possible by the support of various brands and businesses dedicated to community enrichment. Their collaboration underscored a collective commitment to enhancing lives and celebrating motherhood. Additionally, media support from Pulse Ghana and YFM amplified the event’s reach and impact.

Abena Model’s dedication to uplifting communities through compassion and action serves as an inspiration for others to contribute to a more equitable and compassionate society. AM Foundation’s impactful initiatives continue to make a difference in Ashaiman, demonstrating the transformative power of community service and solidarity.
