Tragic Crash on Icy Highway Claims Life of Maryland Man

A devastating crash on U.S. 40 near Fraser, Colorado, resulted in the death of a 29-year-old man from Bethesda, Maryland, and left four others injured. The incident occurred on Thursday morning when a pickup truck traveling east lost traction on the icy road, spun across the median, and collided with a semitrailer heading west.

According to a news release from the Fraser and Winter Park Police Department, the driver of the pickup truck, a 37-year-old man from Aurora, Colorado, sustained injuries along with three other passengers. One woman remains in critical condition in a Denver-area hospital as of Friday morning.

The Grand County Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the deceased man from Maryland at a later date. The semitrailer driver, a 34-year-old male from Lochbuie, was fortunately unharmed in the crash, and the fuel tanker he was transporting was not severely damaged.

Although drugs and alcohol are not believed to have played a role in the accident, authorities have not ruled out the possibility of filing charges once the investigation is complete.
