TelCables Nigeria, a subsidiary of Angola Cables, is set to revolutionize the digital landscape of West Africa with its strategic expansion. The company’s latest initiative involves establishing a new point of presence (PoP) at the Lagos Rack Centre facility, a critical milestone in regional digital infrastructure development.

Fernando Fernandes, CEO of TelCables Nigeria and West Africa, emphasized the importance of this expansion in enhancing digital connectivity across the region. The new PoP aims to localize traffic and provide faster, more reliable internet access to enterprises, government institutions, and individuals.

Angola Cables brings substantial technical expertise to this venture, with an extensive submarine cable network spanning over 33,000 kilometers. The company’s global reach connects the Americas, Africa, Europe, and Asia, positioning TelCables as a key player in the West African market since November 2022.

The expansion at Rack Centre’s Lagos facility aligns with the completion of its LGS 2 Data Centre, which will significantly enhance the campus’s capabilities. With 13.5MW of IT Power and 7,200 square meters of space, the new data center is designed for artificial intelligence readiness, catering to increased data processing and storage needs.

Lars Johannisson, CEO of Rack Centre, highlighted the broader implications of the project, emphasizing the center’s ability to host over 68 telecommunication carriers, Internet service providers, and global Tier 1 networks. This collaboration between TelCables and Rack Centre signifies a joint effort to build resilient digital infrastructure in West Africa, positioning the region as a significant player in the global digital economy.

TelCables’ expansion is not limited to Nigeria, as the company also opened a new PoP at Teraco’s data center facility in Durban, South Africa. This demonstrates a broader commitment to digital connectivity across the continent, paving the way for future technological advancements and economic growth in West Africa.

As digital transformation accelerates, strategic infrastructure investments like these will play a crucial role in bridging connectivity gaps and empowering businesses and communities across the region. The partnership between TelCables and Rack Centre signifies a new era of enhanced digital connectivity in West Africa, setting the stage for continued growth and innovation in the region.
