Luigi Mangione’s Fingerprints Match Prints at Murder Scene of Brian Thompson
Police have confirmed that Luigi Mangione’s fingerprints match the prints found at the scene of Brian Thompson’s murder last week in New York City. According to CNN reports, two law enforcement officials verified this information on Wednesday morning.
It was previously reported that a partial fingerprint was lifted from a water bottle, possibly purchased at a Starbucks near the shooting scene just moments before the crime. However, it remains unclear if that is the print to which the police are referring.
Arrest and Extradition
Mangione was apprehended on Monday at a McDonald’s in Altoona, PA after a 5-day manhunt. He is currently resisting extradition to New York, where he faces murder charges. Police discovered a handwritten manifesto in his possession.
Brian Thompson, the CEO of United Healthcare, was fatally shot outside the New York Hilton Midtown hotel last week. The masked gunman approached him from behind, firing multiple shots before fleeing on an e-bike.
Public Outburst and Legal Defense
Mangione was briefly seen outside the Pennsylvania courthouse before his extradition hearing on Tuesday. He shouted at reporters before being escorted inside by sheriff’s deputies. His attorney, Tom Dickey, stated that he has seen no evidence connecting Mangione to the crime.
Despite the fingerprint report, Dickey has not responded to inquiries regarding the new development.
