AltSchool, a pioneering educational technology startup, is expanding its reach to Europe after a successful stint in the SuperCharger Ventures accelerator programme. This strategic move marks a significant milestone for the company, which has already made a name for itself in seven African countries.

The company’s mission revolves around democratizing education and creating accessible learning pathways. By selecting Malta as its European operational hub, AltSchool is gearing up to introduce a hybrid learning model that differs from its predominantly online approach in Africa.

CEO Adewale Yusuf has articulated the company’s vision, stressing that talent is universal but opportunities are not evenly distributed. The expansion aims to tackle workforce challenges while offering specialized educational programs tailored to the rapidly evolving technological sectors.

The initial programs in Europe will focus on crucial technological domains such as cloud engineering, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and data science. This strategic emphasis aligns with the surging demand for specialized digital skills in global markets.

AltSchool has already witnessed remarkable growth, with over 100,000 students enrolled in diverse programs spanning from engineering to creative economies. The United Kingdom has emerged as a key market, ranking third in registered users after Nigeria and Kenya.

Going beyond traditional skill development, AltSchool obtained full accreditation from the Accreditation Service for International Schools, Colleges and Universities (ASIC) in February 2024, highlighting its dedication to educational excellence and recognition.

In a bid to produce practical outcomes, the company is exploring innovative business models like business-to-business (B2B) and business-to-business-to-consumer (B2B2C) approaches. These strategies aim to diversify revenue streams while delivering meaningful educational experiences.

Despite not guaranteeing employment, AltSchool’s career team is actively working on initiatives to facilitate student professional transitions. Ongoing discussions with Malta’s Ministry for Education, Sport, Youth, Research, and Innovation underscore the startup’s holistic approach to educational integration.

The SuperCharger Ventures accelerator programme has played a pivotal role in this expansion, offering essential resources, mentorship, and networking opportunities. This support has been crucial in guiding AltSchool through the intricacies of international educational markets.

As AltSchool sets foot in Europe, it remains steadfast in its core mission of creating accessible educational pathways that empower individuals and drive business innovation across diverse geographical landscapes. This move signifies a new chapter in AltSchool’s journey towards revolutionizing education on a global scale.
