Argentinian President Javier Milei made headlines recently for gifting Italian Prime Minister Georgia Meloni a chainsaw-wielding figurine of himself during her visit to Buenos Aires. The unusual gift was presented at Casa Rosada, where the two leaders met and posed for a photo holding the figurine.

According to reports from Politico, Javier Milei used an actual chainsaw as a prop during his 2023 presidential campaign, promising to reduce the size of the state. The photo of Ms Meloni holding the chainsaw figurine has since surfaced online, sparking speculation and amusement among netizens.

Ms Meloni’s visit to Buenos Aires marked her first bilateral visit to Latin America since taking office. She expressed the importance of the fraternal bond between the Italian and Argentine people, highlighting the special attention President Milei had shown to Italy.

During their meeting, the two leaders discussed various global issues, including the war in Ukraine, the conflict in the Middle East, and the crisis in Venezuela. Ms Meloni praised the political alignment between herself and President Milei, emphasizing their shared commitment to defending Western values and democratic principles.

In a separate development, Javier Milei reportedly met with US President-elect Donald Trump in Florida, becoming the first foreign leader to do so since the US presidential election. During the meeting, Milei congratulated Trump and expressed his belief that divine forces were on their side.

Milei is also credited with inspiring Trump’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), a task force aimed at streamlining government operations. He has praised Elon Musk as a hero in human history and encouraged him to push the limits with DOGE.
