Black Stars defender Baba Rahman has set his sights on competing in the 2026 FIFA World Cup, aiming to make a comeback to the national team after taking a temporary break. Rahman, whose career has been marred by significant injuries, including two anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tears between 2017 and 2020, is determined to bounce back and represent Ghana on the world stage once again.

Despite facing setbacks, Rahman managed to make a strong comeback to the national team, participating in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations and the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. Although both tournaments ended with group-stage eliminations for Ghana, Rahman remains optimistic about the team’s future and his own prospects of playing in another World Cup.

In a recent interview with the BBC, Rahman expressed his ambition to return to the Black Stars lineup for what could potentially be his final World Cup appearance. “Of course, I think about playing in another World Cup, and I think Ghana is on the right path to qualify,” he stated. The talented defender is currently focused on regaining full fitness and getting as many games under his belt with PAOK before considering his future plans.

Rahman’s commitment to the Black Stars is unwavering, as he dismissed any speculation of a permanent departure from the national team. He clarified that his absence was merely a break, and he is fully dedicated to Ghana’s World Cup journey. With the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers on the horizon, Rahman is eager to rejoin the squad and contribute to Ghana’s quest for a fifth appearance on the global stage.

Determined to make an impactful return, Rahman is prioritizing his fitness and form at PAOK to ensure he is ready to contribute his experience and skill to the Black Stars. As he prepares for the upcoming challenges, Rahman remains focused on his goal of representing Ghana in the 2026 FIFA World Cup and making a lasting impact on the team’s performance.
