Roman Fada, a presidential candidate in the 2024 Ghanaian elections, took the news of his disqualification by the Electoral Commission with a light-hearted approach. The Commission cited multiple errors and illegalities on his nomination forms, leading to his exclusion from the ballot. In a statement to the media, Jean Mensa, Chair of the Commission, confirmed that votes for another candidate, Madam Akua Donkor, would be annulled due to the disqualification.

In response to the decision, Roman Fada released a video urging Ghanaians to vote wisely despite his exclusion from the race. With a touch of humor, he shared a clip of himself enjoying a meal of fufu, showing that he was taking the setback in stride.

Earlier, the Ghana Freedom Party had informed the Electoral Commission of their new presidential candidate following the passing of Akua Donkor. Donkor, the founder of the party, passed away due to respiratory issues, as confirmed by her former running mate Ernest ‘Adakabre’ Frimpong Manso. Before her death, she was positioned as number 3 on the ballot and was 83 years old. Donkor had initially named Roman Fada as her running mate before her untimely demise.

The video shared by Roman Fada captured the attention of many, showcasing his resilience and positive attitude towards the situation. Despite the disappointments, he remained optimistic and encouraged voters to make informed decisions in the upcoming elections.

The passing of Akua Donkor marked a significant moment in Ghanaian politics, as her legacy and contributions to the Ghana Freedom Party were remembered by many. The Electoral Commission’s decision to disqualify Roman Fada and annul votes for Donkor added another layer of complexity to an already eventful election season.

As Ghanaians prepare for the upcoming elections, the impact of these developments on the political landscape remains to be seen. Roman Fada’s response to his disqualification serves as a reminder of the resilience and humor that can be found in challenging situations. Despite the setbacks, he continues to engage with voters and share his message, showing a dedication to the electoral process and the future of Ghana.
