Gunmen carried out a deadly attack at a bar in the central Mexican city of Queretaro, leaving 10 people dead, according to a local security official. The violence erupted at the Los Cantaritos bar located in the historic district of the city.

Juan Luis Ferrusca, the head of Queretaro’s public security department, confirmed that the attackers entered the bar and opened fire on the unsuspecting patrons. Reports indicate that the gunmen arrived at the scene in a pickup truck, armed with long weapons. Emergency services responded to the incident and discovered the grim aftermath, with 10 individuals tragically losing their lives and at least seven others sustaining injuries.

Following the attack, law enforcement managed to apprehend one suspect, while the vehicle used in the assault was found abandoned and set ablaze. Queretaro, known for its relative safety compared to other parts of Mexico, was shaken by this act of violence. The city has experienced a surge in criminal activity over the years, largely attributed to drug trafficking and gang-related violence, contributing to the staggering number of over 450,000 deaths since 2006.

The authorities are actively investigating the incident to bring those responsible to justice and provide support to the affected individuals and families. The community is reeling from the tragic events that unfolded at the bar, underscoring the ongoing challenges of combating crime and maintaining public safety in Mexico.

As the details continue to emerge, it serves as a stark reminder of the pervasive threat of violence in the country and the urgent need for comprehensive measures to address the root causes of criminal activity. Our thoughts are with the victims and their loved ones during this difficult time.
