Black Stars Duo Djiku and Paintsil to Miss Chad World Cup Qualifier
Ghana’s national team will be without Alexander Djiku and Joseph Paintsil for their upcoming FIFA World Cup qualifier against Chad. The duo failed to make it to Accra in time for the team’s departure, but they will be available for the following match against Mali.
Paintsil, who was traveling from the United States, arrived in Accra a day late due to a missed connecting flight from New York. His delay was caused by a late departure from Los Angeles.
On the other hand, defender Alexander Djiku is currently in Moscow finalizing a contract move and is expected to join the team in Accra a day after the Chad match.
GFA Communications Director Henry Asante Twum confirmed the situation, stating that the team will proceed with 22 players for the Chad fixture before welcoming back Djiku and Paintsil for the Mali game.
The absence of the two players will test the depth of the squad, but the Black Stars will be looking to secure a positive result in their opening World Cup qualifier before regaining their full strength for the next challenge.
