Ghanaian winger Christopher Bonsu Baah made his debut for Al Qadsiah in the Saudi Super Cup, but it was a mixed bag of emotions for the talented forward.
Starting in his first official match for the club, Bonsu Baah wasted no time in making an impact by setting up the opening goal for his team. A brilliant run down the left flank saw him deliver a pinpoint cross that was headed home by Gaston Alvarez to give Al Qadsiah the lead in the eighth minute.
However, the joy was short-lived as Al Ahli fought back, with Franck Kessie equalizing and Ivan Toney converting a penalty to put them ahead by the 28th minute. Al Ahli extended their lead with a third goal soon after, and Bonsu Baah’s day took a turn for the worse when he was shown a red card for a dangerous challenge on an opponent in the 42nd minute.
Despite being reduced to ten men, Al Qadsiah fought bravely but ultimately succumbed to a 5-1 defeat, with Al Ahli booking their spot in the Super Cup final against Al Nassr.
It was a bittersweet debut for Bonsu Baah, who showcased his attacking prowess but also endured a moment of indiscipline that cost his team dearly. As he adapts to his new surroundings in Saudi Arabia, the Ghanaian will be hoping to learn from this experience and make a positive impact in future matches.
Stay tuned for more updates on Christopher Bonsu Baah’s journey with Al Qadsiah as he looks to make his mark in the Saudi Professional League.
