An armed man who was threatening his family was fatally shot by a Pueblo police officer on Tuesday morning after he refused to drop his gun, according to officials. The incident took place on the 100 block of Glen Royal Drive in south Pueblo at 11:44 a.m. after a report was made regarding the man making threats to harm his family members.
Upon arrival, officers could see that the man was armed, and despite orders to drop the weapon, he did not comply, leading to one officer firing shots at him. The man was pronounced dead at the scene, and fortunately, no officers or bystanders were injured during the encounter.
The 10th Judicial District’s Critical Incident Response Team will be conducting an investigation into the shooting, and the identity of the deceased will be released by the Pueblo County Coroner’s Office in due time.
