A Chicago Man Arrested After Allegedly Robbing a 14-Year-Old Boy at a West Side Bus Stop

A Chicago man, Dnario Brown, found himself in jail after being accused of robbing a 14-year-old boy of his iPhone, gym shoes, and hoodie at a West Side bus stop. The incident took place near Roosevelt Road and Central Park Avenue, as reported by the Chicago Police Department.

According to authorities, on June 16, the 14-year-old was walking when four males approached him. One of the men demanded the boy’s sweater, and when he refused and continued walking, he was picked up by the same man. In defense, the boy punched the man, prompting another individual to search through his pockets and steal his phone. The group also took his Nike gym shoes and hoodie, valued between $1,200 and $1,450.

After the incident, the teen ran barefoot to his grandmother’s home nearby, where he contacted the police. Surveillance footage captured part of the attack, showing the boy fleeing the scene and entering his grandmother’s house. It also showed two suspects running into a building on West Grenshaw Street, while the others escaped down an alley.

The victim identified one of the robbers by a tattoo above his left eyebrow, recognizing him from a facility where his mother works. The suspect was later identified as Dnario Brown. The boy and his mother, five minutes after the robbery, went to the location where two suspects were seen entering. There, the teen was able to recover his iPhone and hoodie, and Brown was reportedly confronted and beaten up by the boy’s family members.

Upon the arrival of Burbank police, Brown was detained until Chicago police took over the case. During a bond hearing, Judge Ankur Srivastava ordered Brown to remain in custody pending trial. It was revealed that Brown had four prior arrests for violent crimes and was already facing charges in another pending case at the time of the robbery.

Brown is scheduled to appear in court later this month to address the charges against him.
