A shocking incident unfolded in Texas when a man discovered that he was legally married to his former fiancée without his knowledge or consent, without even attending a wedding ceremony. The 42-year-old man, whose identity remains undisclosed, was left baffled by the unexpected turn of events involving 36-year-old Kristin Marie Spearman. The couple had visited the Wayne County Clerk’s Office to obtain a marriage license, but their relationship soured before they could tie the knot.
Following a disagreement, the man informed Spearman that he wanted to end their relationship. However, Spearman had different plans in mind.
Several days after their breakup, the man received a gift bag from Bath & Body Works. To his astonishment, the bag contained not only products but also an official marriage certificate dated 13th June. The certificate featured both his and Spearman’s names, along with a photo of Spearman holding the paperwork confirming their legal marriage.
According to the McLennan County website, both parties are required to apply for a marriage license in person with valid identification. However, in this unusual case, it is alleged that Spearman had a local pastor certify the marriage without the groom’s presence. She then filed the signed marriage certificate with the county clerk’s office.

Beverly Hills Police Chief Kory Martin expressed his disbelief, stating, “I don’t think in 23 years I’ve ever heard of anybody who managed somehow to get married to someone who wasn’t present for a ceremony.”
He added, “I’ve talked to the victim, and he’s going through a significant process to try to rectify this. So that’s a whole other situation — not only do you have the concern of ‘What does that mean for my safety and my property?’ which is a huge conversation in this, but also, ‘What do I have to do to fix it?’”
Kristin Marie Spearman has since been arrested and charged with third-degree felony stalking.
