Edward Akwasi Boateng, a renowned gospel legend, has made a surprising decision to enter the ride-hailing service industry after initially rejecting Diana Asamoah’s suggestion to drive for Uber. This move comes after Boateng faced financial struggles last year and criticized the lack of support from the gospel community.
Prophet ElBernard Nelson Eshun stepped in to help Boateng by gifting him a Toyota sedan to alleviate his hardships. Despite this support, Boateng faced public scrutiny when Diana Asamoah suggested that he should use the car for Uber driving to generate a steady income. Initially dismissing the idea, Boateng has now had a change of heart.
In a recent interview with Tony Best on Akoma FM’s Akoma Mmre programme, Boateng admitted to reconsidering Asamoah’s advice. He mentioned, “Only foolish people ignore good counsel. I’ve come around to Diana Asamoah’s idea, though I’ll be using the Honda from Prophet ElBernard instead.”
Boateng’s plan for his ride-hailing service is to cater to upmarket clientele rather than regular passengers. He aims to provide exclusive services for special occasions such as weddings, funerals, and other significant celebrations. This strategic approach sets Boateng apart in the competitive transport business.
This new venture signifies a fresh start for Boateng as he navigates creative ways to maintain financial stability while staying connected with his fanbase. By embracing this business opportunity, Boateng showcases his adaptability and determination to overcome economic challenges.
His decision reflects the changing landscape of careers in Ghana’s entertainment industry, where artists are seeking diverse income streams beyond their music careers. Boateng’s foray into the ride-hailing service industry exemplifies his entrepreneurial spirit and willingness to explore new avenues for success.
