The Eastern Cape duo TxC Makes History with BET Award Win

Deputy Minister of Sport, Arts, and Culture, Peace Mabe, extended her congratulations to Amapiano duo TxC for their groundbreaking win at the 2025 BET Awards. The duo, hailing from the Eastern Cape, was crowned Best New International Act at the prestigious awards ceremony held at the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles.

Comprised of Tarryn Reid and Clairise Hefke, TxC made history as the first South African DJ duo to clinch this esteemed award. Their win signifies a momentous achievement for young creatives in the country, showcasing the exceptional talent that exists within South Africa.

Minister Mabe expressed her pride in TxC’s accomplishment, emphasizing the significance of their victory for aspiring artists and the local music industry as a whole. She highlighted the duo’s dedication, perseverance, and ability to transcend boundaries, demonstrating that South African music has the power to resonate on a global scale.

As TxC basks in the glory of their success, Minister Mabe reiterated the government’s commitment to supporting and nurturing young artists by providing them with resources, platforms, and opportunities for international exposure. She emphasized the importance of fostering a conducive environment for rising talents like TxC to flourish and represent the rich cultural heritage of South Africa with pride.

In an interview on the red carpet, TxC expressed their gratitude for the award, acknowledging the significance of winning on an international platform. The duo conveyed their pride in representing South Africa and the Amapiano music genre, underscoring the significance of their victory for themselves, their genre, and aspiring young women in the industry.

Their success serves as an inspiration to artists across the continent and reinforces the global appeal of South African music.

As TxC celebrates their historic win, they pave the way for future generations of artists to dream big, break barriers, and make their mark on the international stage. Their journey exemplifies the transformative power of music and the enduring legacy of South Africa’s vibrant cultural landscape.
