Former Premier League referee David Coote has found himself in a new role as a delivery man for Evri courier service after facing backlash for making derogatory comments about former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp and being caught on video snorting a white powder suspected to be cocaine. The 42-year-old was recently spotted on a doorbell camera delivering a package to a surprised couple, who recognized him from the scandal that led to his dismissal from his refereeing position.

Coote is currently serving a 16-month ban imposed by UEFA following the release of a video where he insulted Klopp and another video published by The Sun newspaper showing him using cocaine during the European Championships last summer. Despite his fall from grace, Coote expressed his determination to move on from the controversy and focus on building a new sense of responsibility in his life.

"I’m just trying to make an honest living," Coote told reporters when asked about his new job as a delivery driver in Newark, England. He acknowledged the mistakes he made and emphasized his commitment to turning over a new leaf and finding purpose in his current role.

The Sun newspaper previously reported on Coote’s offensive remarks towards Klopp, labeling him a "German c***" in a leaked video. The footage of his drug use further tarnished his reputation and ultimately led to his dismissal from his refereeing career. The homeowner who received the delivery from Coote shared their perspective on the situation, highlighting the impact of his actions on his own downfall.

Coote has since reflected on his past behavior, expressing regret over his drug use and acknowledging the shame it has brought him. Despite the challenges he has faced, he participated in the Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon to raise funds for his uncle Mick, who suffers from motor neurone disease. He emphasized the importance of focusing on what truly matters in life, including spending time with loved ones and pursuing personal growth.

While Coote’s future in football remains uncertain, friends and supporters have stood by him during this difficult period. One close acquaintance described him as a "great lad" who recognizes his mistakes and hopes for a potential return to the game in the future. In the meantime, Coote is dedicated to fulfilling his responsibilities and moving forward with integrity.

Evri delivery company, where Coote now works, declined to comment on his situation. As he continues to rebuild his life and reputation, Coote remains committed to learning from his past and embracing a new sense of purpose in his current role as a delivery man.
