A shocking incident occurred on the West Side of Chicago, where a woman has been charged with attempting to kill two police officers while aiding a man in evading arrest. The dramatic events unfolded on May 21 in the 200 block of South Cicero, where the officers spotted 38-year-old Joseph Howard next to a carjacked minivan.

According to reports from the Chicago Police Department, as the officers tried to apprehend Howard, 24-year-old Keyana Wells drove the minivan in circles around them. In a daring move, Wells directed the vehicle towards the officers at a high speed, striking one of them while the other managed to escape unharmed. Howard quickly jumped into the van, and the pair fled the scene.

After a few days, law enforcement authorities managed to apprehend both Wells and Howard. Wells now faces charges of two counts of attempted murder and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, while Howard is charged with two counts of aggravated battery of peace officers and two counts of resisting arrest.

In a court hearing, Judge Luciano Panici, Jr. decided to release Howard on around-the-clock electronic monitoring, while ordering Wells to be detained until the trial.

This incident highlights the dangers that law enforcement officers face in the line of duty, as well as the severe consequences of aiding criminals in evading justice. It serves as a reminder of the bravery and dedication of police officers who risk their lives to protect the community.
