Former Miss South Africa 2020, Shudufhadzo Musida, is making waves globally with her academic pursuits and diplomatic endeavors. After completing her first year of a Master of International Affairs (MIA) degree at Columbia University in New York, Shudu has been actively involved in advocating for women’s rights and mental health on platforms such as the United Nations.

Shudu’s academic journey at Columbia University, where she is specializing in economic and political development, is a testament to her commitment to creating meaningful global impact. Her interest in mental health and social justice, evident even during her pageant days, has driven her towards a path of academic excellence and intellectual growth.

In addition to her studies, Shudu has taken on the role of a moderator at high-level United Nations events, where she continues to champion important issues such as sexual and reproductive health rights and gender-based violence in crisis responses. Her ability to bring empathy, intellect, and urgency to global issues has garnered respect from influential figures in the international community.

Apart from her academic and diplomatic achievements, Shudufhadzo has also delved into the world of literature by publishing her second children’s book, “I Am Shudu.” Inspired by her personal experiences of childhood bullying and struggles, the book explores themes of self-discovery, self-worth, and healing, aiming to provide comfort and encouragement to children in need.

Furthermore, Shudu has been actively involved in hosting events such as Drum Dialogue: Beats of Solidarity, commemorating the 10th anniversary of the Ark of Return at the UN and launching the Second International Decade for People of African Descent. Her presence at significant events like these underscores her dedication to amplifying the voices and histories of marginalized communities.
