Arsenal secured a stunning victory over Real Madrid in their first meeting since 2006, with Declan Rice and Mikel Merino leading the charge with impressive free kicks. The Gunners dominated the game from the start, putting pressure on the Champions League masters.

The first half saw Arsenal come close to scoring from a corner kick, only to be denied by a crucial block from William Saliba. Real Madrid had a scare when VAR checked a possible handball on Raul Asencio, but the decision did not go in favor of the visitors.

Carlo Ancelotti’s side faced a defensive blunder early on, giving Arsenal a golden opportunity that Kylian Mbappe failed to convert. The Gunners created several chances, with Bukayo Saka trying to find a target in the penalty area without success.

As the game progressed, Arsenal continued to dominate, with Thomas Partey receiving a booking before Declan Rice scored a spectacular free kick to give the Gunners the lead. Thibaut Courtois made some brilliant saves but could not stop Rice from scoring again with another impressive set-piece.

Mikel Merino sealed the victory for Arsenal with a third goal, securing a comfortable 3-0 lead going into the second leg. This win marked Arsenal’s sixth victory in their last eight matches against Spanish teams and made them the second English side to remain undefeated in their first three encounters with Real Madrid in the Champions League.

Overall, Arsenal’s performance was dominant and clinical, showcasing their prowess on the European stage. The Gunners will look to carry this momentum forward as they aim to progress further in the competition.
