Accused Serial Rapist Chakib Khodja Detained Without Bail
CHICAGO — Chakib Khodja, a 36-year-old man accused of being the serial rapist responsible for at least five attacks since 2022, faced a court hearing on Monday afternoon where he was deemed a public safety threat and a flight risk.
During the hearing, prosecutors unveiled chilling details of the assaults, revealing that DNA evidence has definitively linked Khodja to the crimes. None of the victims were familiar with Khodja, according to officials.

The first documented attack took place in the early hours of May 7, 2022, in the 2000 block of North Humboldt. A 36-year-old woman was ambushed by Khodja as she entered her building’s foyer. He covered her face with a black drawstring bag, choked her, and engaged in a violent struggle before fleeing the scene, leaving behind the bag that ultimately led to the discovery of his DNA.
Subsequent assaults occurred on July 15, 2022, and January 18, 2025, involving similar methods of luring victims, sexual assault, and DNA evidence linking Khodja to the crimes. The most recent attack on February 4, 2025, saw Khodja wielding a knife, inflicting severe injuries on the victim.
Multiple Charges Laid
Prosecutors have levied a barrage of charges against Khodja, including aggravated criminal sexual assault, armed kidnapping, criminal sexual abuse, unlawful restraint, and attempted battery and kidnapping. Judge Susana Ortiz presided over the hearing and ordered Khodja’s detention without bail.
