Cassava Technologies to Deploy Nvidia Software in South Africa

Cassava Technologies, founded by Zimbabwean entrepreneur Strive Masiyiwa, is gearing up to launch Nvidia’s artificial intelligence software at its South African data centers by June. This move signifies a significant leap towards establishing Africa’s first “AI factory.” The company, which operates a 60,000-mile fiber optic network, renewable energy facilities, and data centers across the continent, plans to extend the implementation of Nvidia’s AI technology to Egypt, Kenya, Morocco, and Nigeria in the near future.

By partnering with Nvidia, a global leader in chip manufacturing, Cassava aims to provide AI-driven computing services to support the digital businesses in Africa. The collaboration with Nvidia follows Cassava’s recent achievement of securing a $90 million equity investment from the US International Development Finance Corporation, Finnish financier Finnfund, and Google in December. This funding will play a crucial role in supporting Cassava’s ambitious plans for technological advancement in the region.

This strategic partnership highlights Cassava’s commitment to leveraging cutting-edge technologies to enhance the digital infrastructure landscape in Africa. With the deployment of Nvidia’s AI software, Cassava is poised to revolutionize the way businesses operate and innovate in the digital era.
