The tragic death of US missionary Beau Shroyer in Africa last October has taken a shocking turn as his wife, Jackie Shroyer, has been formally charged as a co-author in his murder. Beau, 44, was found stabbed to death in a vehicle while on a missionary trip to Angola with Jackie and their five children.
The Lakes Area Vineyard Church, where the Shroyer family attended, announced the formal charges against Jackie in a recent update. Lead pastor Troy M. Easton conveyed the heartbreaking news to parishioners, stating that Jackie will remain in custody until her court date, which is expected to occur within the next 6 months.
Beau, a former police officer from Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, had moved to Angola in 2021 with his family to serve as missionaries for the organization SIM. The couple’s five children are now being cared for by close family members with support from SIM and the Lakes Area Vineyard Church.
The circumstances surrounding Beau’s murder have been shrouded in mystery and intrigue. Angolan law enforcement initially labeled Jackie as the “mastermind” behind her husband’s killing when she was arrested in November. Two alleged accomplices, Bernardino Isaac Elias and Isalino Musselenga Kayoo, were also apprehended, while a third suspect, Gelson Guerreiro Ramos, remains at large.
Officials in Angola suggested that Jackie may have been having an affair with Elias, who worked as a security guard at the Shroyer residence. There were suspicions of a romantic relationship between Jackie and Elias, leading to a plot to eliminate Beau. The suspects reportedly lured Beau into the woods under the pretense of a car breakdown before carrying out the murder.
Elias allegedly paid Kayoo to commit the heinous act in exchange for $50,000. The intricate details of the crime have shocked the community and left many questioning the motives behind Beau’s tragic death.
The Shroyer family had spoken to the Detroit Lakes Tribune about their decision to move to Angola and embark on a mission to a remote bush village with no electricity. Jackie had expressed their intention to teach the locals about Christianity and spread the message of God’s love in the region.
As the investigation into Beau Shroyer’s murder continues and Jackie faces the legal consequences of her alleged involvement, the community grapples with the devastating loss of a dedicated missionary and the unsettling truths that have emerged in the wake of his untimely death.
