Arrest of Suspects

The latest arrests of the suspects, aged 31 and 33, bring the total number of apprehended individuals to four. They were taken into custody at Siyabuswa by the police. The suspects are facing charges of malicious damage to property in relation to the destruction of the Putco buses at the Nkangala District Municipality.

According to Police spokesperson Brigadier Donald Mdhluli, the suspects are believed to have been part of a coordinated attack on the bus fleet, causing significant damage and posing a threat to public safety. They are scheduled to appear at the Mdutjane Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, 12 February 2025.

Response and Condemnation

Major General (Dr.) Zeph Mkhwanazi, the acting provincial commissioner of the Saps in Mpumalanga, commended the arrests and the progress made in the investigation. He emphasized the importance of holding all individuals involved in the crime accountable.
