Man Sentenced to Seven Years for $3.5 Million Cocaine Bust at Midway Airport
CHICAGO — Terrence Slaughter, a 56-year-old man, has been sentenced to seven years in prison for carrying 62 pounds of suspected cocaine worth $3.5 million in his luggage at Midway International Airport. Slaughter was arrested on October 24, 2023, which coincidentally marked the 16th anniversary of his previous sentencing for a separate crime.
According to court records, Slaughter was previously sentenced to 15.67 years for stealing guns from a retired cop and selling them to gang members. Chicago police officers who arrested Slaughter at Midway found 12 vacuum-sealed bags of suspected cocaine in one of his roller bags and 11 sealed bags in the other, totaling 62 pounds of suspected cocaine.
After pleading guilty to manufacturing-delivery of 15 to 100 grams of cocaine, Slaughter was handed the seven-year prison term by Judge Carol Howard. He is expected to be paroled on January 5, 2028.
In a separate case from 2007, Slaughter was sentenced to 188 months in prison for stealing firearms from a retired Illinois State Police sergeant’s home and selling them to gang members. His criminal history also includes narcotics convictions in 2002 and 1991, as well as theft-related cases in 1997.
